Job Description
As the company continues to grow, we are hiring exclusively on behalf of our partner to fill the role of Pilot Engineer. This full-time position is part of the Technology Applications & Piloting Department, based in Amsterdam, with the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Pilot Engineer will report to the Pilot Team Lead and play a critical role in supporting global pilot projects.

Role Overview
The Pilot Engineer will be essential in operating and supporting the testing of advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies. Working closely with a team of researchers, engineers, and project managers, the Pilot Engineer will also be one of the first points of contact with clients. Approximately 15% of the role will involve international travel for commissioning and troubleshooting pilot systems at customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process pilot data, ensuring proper data storage and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Pilot team, local operators, and clients to achieve project objectives.
  • Participate in conference calls, reporting, and presentation preparation.
  • Conduct on-site work, including commissioning, Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), training local operators, and decommissioning.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues remotely or in person at pilot sites.
  • Perform laboratory bench tests, such as coagulation and ion exchange jar tests.
  • Maintain and update pilot documentation.
  • Assist with the maintenance and operations of the pilots.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process or Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the (drinking) water industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data processing and reporting.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal); additional languages, such as Dutch, are a plus.
  • Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to troubleshoot.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for up to 1-2 weeks at a time.
  • Adaptability to changing project demands and assignments.
  • Driver’s license or in the process of obtaining one.

Location
Amsterdam, Netherlands, with the option to work remotely 2 – 3 days per week.
