We are seeking an experienced System Software Architect to help define the architecture of an innovative medical wearable device. This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing department that is shaping the future of medical technology.
Role Overview
In this role, you will lead the development of a wireless, next-generation medical wearable device. The company has already developed a technology demonstrator and is now focused on building a prototype for the next iteration. You will work closely with a design house and interact with a multidisciplinary team to define the high-level system architecture, both in embedded systems and the cloud.
Responsibilities
- Define and architect a wireless medical wearable device, evolving from the current wired version.
- Lead the design of a system that integrates optical sensing for improved signal quality, focusing on near-real-time performance and power budgets.
- Define high-level system requirements and identify potential bottlenecks in hardware and software.
- Assess embedded platforms and development tools, ensuring they meet system requirements.
- Work with external design houses and participate in design reviews to ensure the system meets both technical and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants.
- Help define the scope of work in medical sensing technology, particularly related to blood pressure measurement via optical sensing.
- Ensure the architecture supports real-time sensing, while balancing power consumption and accuracy.
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s or PhD in Software Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or a related technical field.
Experience
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in embedded software development, with a strong background in medical devices or regulated industries (automotive, defense, etc.).
- Proven expertise in C/C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with wireless communication protocols and embedded systems architecture.
- Experience with optical sensing technology is a plus.
- Experience with system design for near-real-time applications and power-efficient solutions.
- Prior experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 62304) is highly preferred.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work in a cross-functional, international environment.
- Familiarity with embedded system development platforms and tools.
- A self-learning mindset, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and industry requirements.
